(Director's artistic note): Kat founded Bl!nk Modern Dance Company with the soul purpose of being able to create and bring the art of dance to the Denver/ Colorado community. Bl!nk started as a small idea but has grown to a full company. Kat gives all the credit to her dear friend Ian who unfortunately passed last year. Ian played a big support in Kat’s life and recommended she start her own company where she felt she can grow as an artist. Bl!nk’s name evolved from a collection of thoughts and ideas mainly inspired by graffiti artist; Banksy, who hid an elephant in a room of art telling people to not blink, or you’ll miss the big picture. The upside down “!” stands for Ian.

She started her training in dance at the age of two at Rocky Mountain Dance Academy where she studied ballet, tap, modern, jazz and hip-hop under the direction of Jennifer Voxakis. Megan Roney has danced since the age of three and is captivated by the stories our bodies tell through the art of dance. Megan works as an occupational therapist and weaves her love of dance with her passion to empower the independence, advocacy, and artistic creation of children and adolescents with disabilities. Megan sustained a traumatic brain injury and multiple physical injuries at the age of nineteen when she was in a car accident. She was told by doctors dancing again may be an impossibility, but with the support of her family, multiple therapy services, and determination she went on to not only dance again, but tour internationally performing in professional stage shows with Disney. Megan is a certified DanceAbility Instructor and performs with local dance companies Life/Art Dance Ensemble, Lost Walks, as well as Bl!nk. Megan is proud to be a part of Bl!nk Modern Dance Company and strives to empower dancers of all abilities to reach for their artistic endeavors.

Mykayla began dancing at Premier School of Dance in Thornton, Colorado at the age of 3.  From the ages of 7 to 18, she competed in dance; such was her dedication to dance that Mykayla elected to be homeschooled, so she could spend more time dancing and competing.  During this time, she studied many different dance styles including African, salsa, musical theater, modern, and break dancing.  She joined LA Dance Magic's Company in 2015 under the direction of Jackie Sleight and Dave Carter.  While working with LA Dance Magic's company she had the opportunity to study and work under Jason Myer, Will Thomas, Christian Vincent, Eddie Moody, DJ Guthrie, Ayodele Casel, and Albert Blaise Cattafi. Mykayla is an instructor at multiple studios as well as a member of a few companies and projects. She is thrilled to be the CO-Director of Bl!nk Modern Dance Co, and excited to see where it will go in this journey.
